Monarch Blitz Meta Breakdown and Road to Nationals Results Tracker

This article will be a little different than I’d originally planned — I had mentioned doing a “tier list” article earlier for some but have decided that this article will pertain only to Blitz and not to Classic Constructed. I think the Classic Constructed meta will be revealed in time as we move forward.

However, for those interested in the Classic Constructed environment, I do have something for you: my new Road to Nationals Results Tracker spreadsheet! My goal is to track top eight results and wins across the season in order to give players a better “at a glance” look at how events are going — I’ve already entered several events and plan to add more as things progress! If you have things to add or more info, please feel free to contact me on Discord at TowerNumberNine#3685.

With that, let’s move on to the Blitz tier list! This is based on results from the second Skirmish season and my own thoughts on the characters involved and their relevant strengths and weaknesses.

Blitz Tier List

Tier One: Ira, Kano, Dorinthea, Chane

The “big three” from Skirmish Season One — Ira, Kano, and Dorinthea — are joined by newcomer Chane. All of these heroes put up strong results in the second Skirmish season, with each having different strengths and weaknesses. Of these, I think that Kano is likely the strongest though also the most difficult to play. Chane has a lot of “raw power” and probably the best Kano matchup of any of these, but somewhat lacks consistency and has the highest-variance mirror.

Tier 1.5: Bravo, Rhinar

Bravo and Rhinar are both strong characters, though perhaps a step behind the other two. Rhinar IMO was “underplayed” in Season Two but is still a major threat, while Bravo picked up some solid wins. Both Rhinar and Bravo also benefit from running lots of big attacks and hence naturally countering Phantasm, though Prism has been less of a factor in Blitz than some expected — I know I for one was much more worried about her than it seems I needed to be!

Tier 2: Almost Everyone Else

Most characters fall into this category in my book. That doesn’t mean that they are all necessarily bad — some could be underexplored but strong. That said, these tend to be less “proven” than the other characters in the category, though I’d be quite excited to see some of the options here flourishing — Kassai in particular strikes me as very interesting.

Tier 3: Data Doll, Kavdaen, Shiyana

Kavdaen and Shiyana are not “fully implemented” thanks to their lack of access to normal class cards or strong weapons. Data Doll is really strong while she’s on the offense, but three Intellect is just really really bad when you have to defend.

We’ll have to see what Tales of Aria brings to the table and whether that shakes up the Blitz meta — right now, Ira, Dorinthea, and Kano have been “sitting on the top” after two seasons of Skirmishes and one new set, and while Chane has now joined them I think the original three are still quite strong! Will any newcomers dethrone them? I for one am excited to find out.

As mentioned earlier, I’m not covering Classic Constructed meta stuff for this article — instead, I’m linking to my new Road to Nationals results tracker, which should allow players to see how the meta is evolving as the season progresses. Feel free to let me know if there are things you’d like me to add, results from an event I don’t have up yet, or similar — and good luck to those who will be playing in Road to Nationals events this weekend!
